Whilst personal protective equipment is invariably made available to most employees, when it is found to be necessary, by management, it is unfortunately assumed that all such individuals know how to look after and use this equipment when it is required. This can result in a lack of clarity of its appropriate application and safe use. If a risk assessment proves PPE to be necessary for a particular task, it then becomes compulsory that it be used on such an occasion and not merely at the whim and fancy of an employee, or not at all.
