Asbestos Awareness

As the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 continues the ban introduced for blue and brown asbestos in 1985 and for white asbestos in 1999, asbestos has not been permitted to be used in this country. This having had extreme relevance within the construction industry, where it has made buildings much safer to work on preventing individuals being exposed to it in the workplace.

However, since this entire ban is historically quite recent, and premises constructed earlier are now needing to be repaired, modified, or even restored, this means that extreme caution needs to be exercised by all contractors who perform this work, be they builders, plumbers, or electricians, etc.

All these individual need to receive Asbestos Awareness Training, so that they will know how to identify this training presence of this material, take evasive action by leaving it undisturbed and alerting their client, together with all other persons at the worksite. During the course, which includes use of a projector, the trainees will be shown photos of various types of asbestos, in addition to typical locations of where this material is likely to be discovered, such as lintels, soffits, gutters, drain-pipes and corrugated roof sheeting.
