Whilst, generally, personal protective equipment is made available, to employees, when management realise that it is necessary, unfortunately, often, it is assumed that all such individuals know how to look after and use it. This results in a lack of clarity, as to its appropriate application and safe use. If a risk assessment proves PPE to be necessary for a particular task, it then becomes compulsory that it be used on such an occasion and not merely at the whim and fancy of an employee, or not at all.
